Convictions
of A Soldier Of God
A Soldier
believes the pre-eminence of Christ as our Divine Lord and Master, submitting
to no religious official claiming to rule over several churches.
A Soldier believes
the Supreme authority of the bible and its sufficiency as our only rule of
faith and practice.
A Soldier
believes the competency of the individual soul to approach God and to interpret
the Word of God according to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
A Soldier
believes the absolute separation of church and state, but obeying magistrates
and Governors in all secular matters that do not annul scriptural Christian
responsibility.
A Soldier
believes in a regenerate church membership based upon faith in Christ as God’s
only way of salvation.
A Soldier
believes the beautiful, symbolic ordinance of believers’ immersion in water as
a figure of the salvation experience, as a testimony of dying to self and the
world, and spiritual submission to the pastor of the local church.
A Soldier
believes the complete autonomy of the local congregation, but also its
interdependence in associated fellowship with all Bible based churches of like
faith.
A Soldier
believes in the THE LAST DAYS
A Soldier
holds to eschatological views consistent with historical premillennialism.
Jesus Christ will physically return to Earth following the last seven years of
Tribulation more accurately called the Seventieth Week of Israel (Daniel 9:27;
Matthew 24:21; Mark 13:19). I believe that during the tribulation that a world
leader known as the antichrist/antimessiah will arise (Daniel 7:15; Revelation
17:11; 17:13), will demand worship (Revelation 13:15), and will require
everyone to receive his mark (possibly a microchip implant, barcode, or
biological component) to conduct trade and commerce (Revelation 13:16-17).
A
Soldier believes that during this time
period, the final judgments of God will be poured out on humanity. I fully
affirm in a rapture or gathering of the saints into the clouds to meet Christ (
Mark 13:26-27; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) and that
Believers will be spared from the wrath of God which is to come upon the world
who believe not. (Romans 1:18; 2:5; 8; Ephesians 5:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:9;
Revelation 16:1, KJV)
A Soldier
believes in a Worldwide program of missionary fervor and evangelism in
accordance with Pauline ministry and doctrine.
A Soldier
believes that the Holy Bible, as originally written, was verbally inspired and
the product of Spirit-filled men, and has been divinely preserved up to date
and therefore is the truth without any admixture of error for its matter. The
bible is the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which
all human conduct, creed, and opinions shall be tried.
A Soldier
believes the bible to have only one interpretation, and many applications,
which may be revealed to any believer by the power of the Holy Spirit. The
bible does not ONLY contain and convey the Word of God, but IS IN ALL ASPECTS,
THE WORD OF GOD.
A Soldier
believes that there is only one God, living and true, who is infinite,
intelligent Spirit, the Creator and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth.
A Soldier believes
that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with God the Father and God the Son, and are
of the same nature; that He was active in the creation, that He convicts of
sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; that He bears witness to the truth of
the gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the agent of the new birth;
and that He seals, fills, leads, intercedes, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies,
and comforts the believer.
A Soldier
believes that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Ghost in a miraculous
manner; born of a virgin and that He is both completely God, and completely
man. He was subject to temptation, yet was without any sin. He is the Promised
Messiah for Israel,
the Savior of the world. Jesus is the only way man can come to God the Father
for forgiveness of sins and everlasting life.
A Soldier
believes the Genesis account of creation as being neither allegory nor myth,
but literal, historical account of the direct, immediate creative acts of God
in the person of Jesus Christ without any evolutionary process; that man made
up of spirit, and soul, and body was created by a direct work of God and not
from previously existing forms of life; and that all men are descendent from
the historical Adam and Eve, first parents of the entire human race.
A Soldier
believes in the total depravity of man because of Adams fall, and we are all
partakers of Adams fallen nature, and are
sinners by nature, by conduct, and choice; so therefore, are under just
condemnation without defense or excuse. Because man is totally depraved, he
cannot come to Christ in his own power, ( John 6:44). Man cannot simply believe
in Him, (Eph.2:8). God revives man by the Spirit of God out of his spiritual
deadness, for what can a dead man do to revive himself? Yet God ‘s sovereignty
in whom he saves does not invade our free will of choice but is rich in mercy,
draws man to Himself. God changes the inclination of the heart of man by
redirecting the will of man, by altering the circumstances around him. ( John
6:37,44) In that drawing towards Christ, the Spirit of God quickens man’s
understanding about himself, and sees his direction in the path of destruction,
and then turn to God in repentance. In that turning towards Christ as Savior,
receives forgiveness of sins, and is adopted into the family of God. (John
1:12-13) This salvation is available and unlimited to all, but it is
effectively limited by man’s rejection of it. God leaves man to his own
destructive and self-hardening ways, (Romans 9:18) so they stumble because they
are sinners and disobedient. It is mans responsibility for accepting God’s
grace after enlightenment. God will not condemn man to hell, Man rejects God’s
grace. For it is not God’s will that any should perish, but that all should
come to repentance.(2 Pet. 3:9)
A Soldier
believes that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace ;( Eph 2:8) God must
take the initiative through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, If it
were not for the operation of Gods grace upon the heart of the sinner, no man
could be saved. Christ wholly by the appointment of the Father, freely took
upon Him a body of flesh, yet without sin, honored the divine law by his
personal obedience, and made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins by His
death, which reconciles the sinner to God; (Heb. 2:17; Col. 1:20; 2 Cor. 5:18)
that His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a
martyr, but was a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinners place, the
just dying for the unjust; Christ the Lord, bearing our sins in His own body on
the tree; (1 Peter 1:22-25) that having risen bodily from the dead, He is now
seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. His atonement is limited to
those accepting it by faith, as he is brought to God . Whereas all who believe
not, the wrath of God abides on him already (John 3:36) and will pay for their
own sins in the lake of fire. His atonement is eternal and therefore the
individual believer under this atonement is eternally saved from eternal
condemnation because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, not by his own good
works (Eph 2:8-9, Romans 3:28)Once saved, always saved.(John 10:28) His
atonement is efficacious to the salvation of children of innocence and mentally
irresponsible, but is efficacious to others only when they repent and believe.
Isa. 53:6;
Romans 5:8-11; 1 Cor. 3:11; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb 9:13-15.
A Soldier
believes that the new Birth is the regenerative act of the Holy Spirit at the
occurrence of a sinner receiving the Word of God (Romans 10:17) and conception
takes place in the sinners heart. (1 Peter 1:23) Similarly as the natural
birth, there is a period of time when the Holy Spirit draws us to Himself,
revealing our sinfulness, (Eph.1:18) and our need to repent and believe the
gospel according to the scriptures (Eph. 1:13). If life begins at conception at
a natural birth, similarly, our new creation (2 Cor. 5:17) begins at our
spiritual conception. When we receive Jesus as personal Lord and Savior, and
repent of sins, calling upon the name of the Lord (Romans 10:13) we have given
birth (John 3:3). This act is wholly of the Holy Spirit as He draws us to the
Savior. Once saved, the sin nature never leaves but the Holy Spirit spiritually
cleanses the sinner throughout his time on the earth. Salvation is truly
evidenced by a changed life of the new believer, eventually becoming
transformed into a new creature. The one who is saved is sanctified by faith
and is solely by the power of the Holy Ghost and not of some act we do.
